New Haven Air Toxics Inventory and Risk Reduction Strategy (June 2004)
The New Haven Air Toxics Project was a pilot effort under the EPA’s Integrated Urban Air Toxics Strategy. Under the management of the City Plan Department and the Board of Health, this initiative intended to characterize the local air toxics problem and work with the community to reduce the threat to public health. The City developed an inventory of air toxic emissions from local sources. The inventory contains emissions estimates from point, area and mobile sources (both on-road and off-road) and includes 116 pollutants and pollutant groups.

Climate Action Plan (August 2004)
Prepared in 2004 as a collaboration with the City of New Haven and the New Haven Community Clean Air Initiative, the Climate Action Plan recognizes the threat of global climate change and asserts New Haven’s responsibility to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The plan includes a greenhouse gas inventory and a set of recommended actions to guide New Haven toward the goal of reducing community greenhouse gas emissions.

New Haven Future Framework (September 2008)
Released in 2008, this document laid out goals and strategies for the decade ahead. Focus areas included education, equity, environment, and economy.

River St Municipal Development Plan (January 2002)
In 2002, the Economic Development and City Plan Departments prepared, and the New Haven Development Commission approved, the River Street Municipal Development Plan (MDP). The project includes acquisition of brownfields; restoration / adaptive reuse of historic buildings; development of a new waterfront park; reconstruction of the public infrastructure; and establishment of new design standards to create an appealing and sustainable environment along the Quinnipiac River.

Rt. 34 Municipal Development Plan (2008-2009)
In 2008, the City began working on the Route 34 West Municipal Development Plan (MDP) to advance a comprehensive community revitalization of the largely undeveloped corridor of Route 34 between Howe Street and Ella T. Whalley Avenue Revitalization
The City Plan Department worked closely with the Whalley Avenue Special Services District and other city departments to revitalize this distinctive retail boulevard. Efforts included a program of physical improvements as well as the adoption of a new zoning amendment establishing an overlay district with higher design standards for new construction and renovation projects. Union Station Transit-Oriented Development Study (February 2008)
This 2008 study explored alternative ways to meet the growing ridership demand for additional parking at Union Station while enhancing near and long-term opportunities to foster new development in and adjacent to the Station.
