Today is the 34th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the most comprehensive piece of civil rights legislation for people with disabilities in the United States. Signed on July 26, 1990, The ADA guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to enjoy employment opportunities, purchase goods and services, and participate in state and local government programs.

Our department is charged with insuring that residents and visitors with disabilities have equal access to the City’s programs, services and activities. We also strive to foster a welcoming and accessible community for individuals with disabilities through policy development, education and the formation of strategic partnerships with public, private and non-profit entities.
