New Haven Fire Department
Our Mission
The mission of the New Haven Fire Department is to contribute within appropriate authority to the maintenance and improvement of the quality of life in the City of New Haven through fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical service, rescue, emergency communications, special services, emergency management, and the effective training for an administration of these activities. These activities are to be provided for all that live and work, visit or invest in our City.
The focus of the Mission Statement and strategic planning effort shall be used to provide as a minimum to its taxpayers and guests visiting the community. The potential covers a wide array of hazards and delivery parameters.
The New Haven Fire Department was organized
as a paid Department on June 24, 1862.
The New Haven Fire Department is proud to be an
ISO class 1 Fire Department.
Announcement Concerning Fireworks Safety
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) takes aim at consumer fireworks. View the latest public service announcement, featuring Dan Doofus, urging people not to use consumer fireworks because they are too dangerous. Fireworks are responsible for thousands of fires and injuries each year. On Independence Day in a typical year, more U.S. fire are reported than on any other day. The Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks is coordinated by NFPA.
