New Haven, CT
Home MenuTrash & Recycling
The Department of Public Works maintains a weekly schedule for collecting trash and recycling throughout New Haven. The brown 48-gallon toter is used for trash and the blue 96-gallon toter is used for recycling items only. Both toters must be placed curbside before scheduled collections and removed within 12 hours after collection. If toters are needed, residents should call Resident Services at (203) 946 - 7700.
Post-storm trash and recycling collections - Residents must have all snow removed from on top and around their toters when placing them at the curb for scheduled pick up. If snow-covered, toters will be left full until the next regularly scheduled collection. Be sure to follow any storm-related changes to refuse collections on the city website.
Please Note: Trash & Recycling will not be picked up on official City Holidays. Instead, pick up will be a day later. For example, if a holiday is on a Monday, Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday and the rest of the week’s routes will all be a day later than regularly scheduled.
