Street BannerThe Department of Transportation, Traffic & Parking manages all street banners in the city of New Haven.

The fee for hanging banners is $500 per installation/banner. Every installation guarantees a two-week display period. There is an extension fee of $500 for every two weeks of display after the initial two weeks.

Fee payment exemptions will be considered for select events where the sponsor of the banner is solely non-profit organizations and the event being advertised is free and open to the public and not advertising a program which will be at the cost of attendees.

All banner applications reviewed must meet the following criteria for consideration;

  • At least one non-profit organization must sponsor any banner hanging. If the petitioning organization is not such a group, a secondary sponsoring non-profit must be listed.
  • No more than eight square feet or ten percent, whichever is less, of the area of proposed banner(s) will be covered by for-profit names, representations or logos. The materials for the proposed banner(s) must conform to City standards as outlined in section 9-2 of the New Haven Book of Ordinances.

Notice: All banners must be designed to the below outlined specifications. Any banners that do not meet these specifications, pose a risk to public safety and will not be displayed.

The Banner Application Form must be filled out for each banner. Multiple banners/locations may not be submitted on the same application.
