Under the Youth Services Bureau will come connections to the Youth Commission which is comprised of both youth and adults who offer their insight regarding the direction of the department and feedback regarding current program.
The Youth Services Bureau facilitates the following.
Mayor's Youth Council (MYC)
Mayor's Youth Council serves as an opportunity for the city's youth who are currently in high school and opportunity to realize their leadership potential via their participation. MYC meets weekly throughout the academic year and takes leadership roles in youth-driven workshops, discussions and service-learning projects. This program is co-facilitated with Youth@Work.

Summer Bussing
Summer Bussing provides New Haven agencies with funding for summer bussing so that they may provide cultural and educational trips for youth participants.
The summer bussing program has been postponed until further notice.
Bike Program
Bike Program provides new bicycles to inner city youth who are middle school and/or high school attendees—with collaboration with New Haven Police Department.
Youth Conservation Corps
New Haven youths receive new bicycles to canvass designated neighborhood to encourage New Haven residents to take advantage of UI’s Home Energy Solution. This was possible through a collaboration with the City of New Haven, UI, Bank of America, Energize CT, Comcast, NH Housing Services, Devil’s Gear Bike Shop and PoisGen.
Community Development Block Grant
The Community Development Block Grant program works to ensure decent affordable housing, to provide services to the most vulnerable in our communities, and to create jobs through the expansion and retention of businesses. CDBG is important tools for helping local governments tackle serious challenges facing their communities. YSB monitors youth servicing agencies that have been granted funds via the City of New Haven under CDBG.
