The Humane Commission is comprised of seven members.
Members are to be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Alders. Term of commission membership is three years. The Chief of Police is the eighth member serving as the Secretary (ex-officio).
The commission is responsible for adopting rules and regulations required for the operation of the animal shelter and related activities, and for the proper care and treatment of animals within the city limits.
